Community Living Dufferin’s newest entrepreneur is Kassondra Staveley.

Kassondra started working on her new business initiative, “Kass for Candies” at the beginning of October. Her first project was a crafty turkey creation filled with chocolates for Thanksgiving. She sold out within two days!

Next she created her popular and delicious Halloween Monster cupcakes.

November was a busy month as she put together an arrangement of unique and fun Christmas goodies which she sold at the CLD Christmas Craft Sale; held on December 3, 2016.

Along with the creative part of Kassondra’s business, she is working with the Employment Services department to learn the business side. Kassondra is working on her computer skills by designing her own flyers, setting up promotional items and figuring out costs and profits for each project.

She started getting an itch to run her own business when she attended L.E.A.F., a program run by Employment Services to prepare people to work in the community. Now there is no looking back. Her business is growing and growing with each delicious dessert she bakes.

Starting her own business is not the only interest that Kassondra has. You might recognize her from the Creative Partners on stage Drama group, of which she has been a member now for the past two years. She performs in an original play each June at the Opera House.

She is also a talented photographer and is a member of the Click Connect Photography group exploring her love for photography.

Recently she submitted one of her photographs to a contest run by Community Living Ontario. Her photograph was chosen and will be featured on the Christmas Cards sold online and distributed across Ontario by CLO.

All and all she is a very busy young woman. She has a lot to be proud of! Keep up the good work Kass!
